Pochoir by Henri Laurens, after the watercolor and collage "Mandoline", published in 1948 by Cahiers d'Art. Pochoir is a stencil-based printing technique popular from the late 19th Century through until the early 1950s, with its center of activity in Paris. The manual aspect of Pochoir has been both one of its most valuable attributes being is both labor intensive and time consuming, making it an expensive printmaking process. Presented in a 3/4 inch wide, 5/8 inch high handmade wood frame, tan conservation mat, and conservation clear acrylic glazing. Mat opening size: 10.5 x 8 inches; overall size with frame: 16 x 14 inches. As with all of our framed art, the frame and framing materials are new. The print is in mint condition, having never been previously displayed, and since framing is stored in a controlled environment away from light.
Henri Laurens (1885 - 1954), was a French sculptor, painter and printmaker known for his Cubist works. He was a peer of many of the important Cubism artists such as Pablo Picasso, Georges Braque, Juan Gris and Fernand Léger.
