  • Original 1970 lithograph by Valerio Adami.  Printed by Imprimerie ARTE, the successor to Atelier Maeght, that continued the tradition of producing prints of the highest quality.  Sheet size:  15  x 11 inches; mint condition.  A fine example of Adami's Pop Art with an amusing theme.

Valerio Adami (b. 1935) is an Italian painter.  Educated at the Accademia di Brera in Milan, he has since worked in both London and Paris, with his first solo exhibition in 1959.  In his early career, Adami’s works were Expressionistic, but by the time of his second exhibition in 1964, he had developed a style of painting reminiscent of French Cloisonnism, featuring regions of flat color bordered by black lines.  While his style ultimately became more Pop Art, Adami addressed politics in his art, and incorporated subjects such as modern European history, literature, philosophy, and mythology.  Adami’s subjects were highly stylized and often presented in fragments.  There were five retrospective exhibits of Adami's work between 1985 and 2010.
