  • A pair of original hand-colored engravings full titles in French: "Ocelot Felis Pardalis Du Bresil" (Brazilian Ocelot) and "Panthere Felis Pardus D'Afrique" (African Panther) from "Histoire Naturelle des Mammiferes" by Paul Gervais; published in 1855 by L. Curmer, Paris. 

     

    Presented in a 1/2 inch wide handmade gold wood frame, with a tan conservation mat, and protected by Tru Vue Optium Museum Acrylic® glazing.  Mat opening size: 7 3/4  x 5 3/4 inches; overall size with frame: 11 1/2 x 16 inches.  As with all of our framed art, the frame and framing materials are new.  The prints are in excellent condition save for some faint edge foxing.  The prints were was never previously displayed, and once framed are stored in a controlled environment away from light.  Note: the colophon page is shown for authentication purposes and not included.

     

    Paul Gervais (1816 – 1879) was a French palaeontologist and entomologist.  His publications are noted for their charming and detailed engraved illustrations.
