  • 1822 Wilkinson World Map, full title: "the World from the Discoveries & Observations made in the latest Voyages & Travels", which was published in one of Wilkinson's major cartographic: "A General Atlas, being a Collection of Maps of the World and Quarters, the Principal Empires, and Kingdoms &c ... and Atlas Classica, being a Collection of Maps of the Countries Mentioned by the Ancient Authors, both Sacred and Profane".  The discoveries refer to those of Captain James Cook.  Printed on heavy parchment paper, with visible plate-lines, and is hand colored.  When illuminated, a faint watermark is visible on the map's right side.  Folded as issued with the fold reinforced.  Over-all in very good condition.  The map's size is 11 x 18 inches plate-line to plate-line.  Now rare and collectible, it makes for a fine display.
