Isaak Tirion (1705-1765) was a Dutch publisher, bookseller, and cartographer who lived in Amsterdam during the 18th century. He was known for publishing a wide range of books and maps, including atlases, city plans, and travel guides. Tirion's most famous work is his "Nieuwe en Beknopte Hand Atlas" ("New and Concise Hand Atlas"), which was first published in 1744 and went through many editions and translations in several languages. The atlas was highly regarded for its accurate and up-to-date maps, as well as its compact size, which made it popular among travelers and merchants. Tirion also published other works, such as the "Tegenwoordige Staat der Vereenigde Nederlanden" ("Present State of the United Netherlands"), which was a comprehensive survey of the Dutch Republic. In addition, he produced a variety of maps and plans of European cities, as well as maps of other parts of the world, such as Africa and Asia.
